Breathe in because
God breathed out

and hovered over the nothing
God breathed out 
and the universe was created
God breathed out
and in that breath gave us life
So breathe 

Breathe in because God breathed out
Breathe in the breath of God
Breathe in God’s creative spirit
Breathe in life
Breathe in all you are meant to be
Breathe in 

Breathe out
Pain, sorrow, shocking news
try to steal your breath away
Shame and regret make you
hold your breath
lest someone else discover
and turn away
because of lingering,  
probably unearned, guilt 
So, Breathe out 
Let them go, then
